Understanding the academic progress and attainment of a multilingual learner population in the international school setting is extremely complex, since many of the tools available have not been developed and validated using comparable populations.  At the same time, academic English language proficiency is key to attainment and progress in these learners, but is often not assessed at all.  Led by our Head of School Partnerships, Dr Helen Wood, this webinar takes a practical approach to how monitoring progress and outcomes in multilingual learners might be more reliably achieved.

Our Head of School Partnerships, Dr Helen Wood, is delivering a session on targeted academic language support and preparation for international students progressing from school to university. The content will be useful for both Heads of EAL and students alike.

The British Boarding Schools’ Workshop is a focal event in the calendar year for all those involved in working with educational agents, guardians, and international pupils and their parents.  We look forward to seeing many of our international and independent school partners and meeting new colleagues.  Our Head of School Partnerships, Dr Helen Wood, and the Password team will be delivering a CPD session exclusively for Password partner schools prior to the event and will have a stand in the atrium at the venue, and be on hand for meetings throughout.

This session led by Password’s Head of School Partnerships, Dr Helen Wood, will equip attendees with essential knowledge and practical strategies to effectively assess and track English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners. Knowing how to assess, track and tailor support for EAL learners is essential for the demonstration of progress and, crucially, will also make a lasting positive impact on each students’ educational journey.

NALDIC (National Association for Language Development in the Curriculum) is the UK’s national subject association for EAL.  Password are proud to be headline sponsoring this flagship event in their events calendar. Entitled, “Creating linguistically inclusive classrooms: through activism, research and practice” the conference promises to be a great source of practical advice and inspiration based on the latest research.  Our Head of School Partnerships, Dr Helen Wood and Academic Manager, Kirsty Branch, both EAL classroom practitioners, are excited to be joining NALDIC members for this event.
